The Denman Island Climate Action Network is seeking 500 Denman Islanders to endorse a call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty by Earth Day, April 22, according to a notice in this week’s Islands Grapevine.[1]

The notice says the proposed treaty calls for ending new coal, oil and gas exploration and production, phasing out existing production in line with the 1.5C global climate goal, and accelerating solutions and a just transition.[1]

The group says it is sponsoring Earth Day events on Saturday, April 23, with daytime activities for children and families and an evening event at the Community Hall scheduled for 7:30.[1]
