The Denman Local Trust Committee heard a presentation on carrying capacity and received a petition about secondary dwellings on Agricultural Land Reserve land at its May 31 regular meeting.[1]

The presentation asked the committee to set limits on land use and build-out and update the Official Community Plan, according to the minutes.[1]

The petition, signed by hundreds of Denman residents and non-resident property owners, asked for local bylaws to align with provincial ALR regulations allowing secondary dwellings on ALR land, without additional restrictions beyond provincial rules, and to prevent those dwellings from being used for short-term rentals.[1]

The minutes record the presentations and requests; they do not record a committee decision on them at that meeting.[1]
