About 35 people attended a May 30 community information meeting on proposed bylaw changes for the Denman Housing Association’s Denman Green project, which is intended to enable 20 units of affordable housing. [1]
The presentation covered proposed changes to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, a housing agreement, a restrictive covenant, and plans for potable water and wastewater. [1]
In the question period, attendees asked about water use, the proposed density transfer, tenant selection and the project’s well. The meeting record says the water licence application was with the province, which would review impacts on adjacent water users; it also records that a hydrogeologist engaged by the association found no concern about pressure or yield impacts on adjacent properties. [1]
The May 31 Local Trust Committee minutes record a separate delegation asking the committee to change bylaws to align with provincial rules allowing secondary dwellings on all Agricultural Land Reserve lands, without additional restrictions beyond provincial ones, and to prevent their use as short-term rentals. The delegation presented a petition signed by hundreds of Denman residents and non-resident property owners. [2]
