Denman Health Centre prepares for two-doctor team

The Health Centre Society says Dr. Jody Taylor is to take over the clinic in January, with Dr. Veerle Willaeys joining part time early in the new year.

The Denman Health Centre is preparing for a two-doctor team, with Dr. Jody Taylor scheduled to assume full responsibility for the clinic in January 2023 and Dr. Veerle Willaeys expected to join part time early in the new year, the Health Centre Society reported. ^[1]

The society said Dr. Ron Wilson is retiring and described his contribution to the island’s health care. Taylor wrote that she has worked as a family doctor for seven years and previously worked as a nurse. ^[1]

The society also said a portable structure is slated for installation beside the equipment shed sometime in late January. It is intended to provide office and meeting space for the Hornby Denman Community Health Care Society, while the main building is to accommodate two medical rooms and space for physiotherapy and allied health services. ^[1]

The Comox Valley Primary Care Network said that, over the past six months, its staff have travelled by ferry to provide services at the Denman Medical Clinic, including nursing, social work, pharmacy, and mental health and substance-use support. ^[1]
