The Denman Island Local Trust Committee amended draft farming regulations to set a 30-metre setback for agricultural buildings and structures, except fences, according to minutes of its October 6 and October 14 special meetings.[1]
The committee had reconvened on October 14 after asking staff to bring back information on setbacks from watercourses.[1] The minutes say staff reported that a comprehensive review of setback requirements and Development Permit Areas was outside the project’s scope, and that provincial rules set setbacks for water protection on farmland.[1]
Trustee David Critchley moved to add a note to the draft bylaw about provincial fence-setback rules, but the motion did not receive a seconder.[1] The committee then carried an amendment replacing the wording in sections 1.7 and 1.8 with a 30-metre setback for agricultural buildings and structures, except for a fence.[1]
