The Denman Island Covered Recreation Space project has a funding shortfall for its first phase, a timber-frame structure with a roof, according to a notice by the project committee. [1]
The committee said the project had government funding and engineered drawings, but its budget had increased and it was working to secure more funding. [1]
One funder could not extend its deadline beyond March 31, 2023, the notice said, putting funding at risk if construction did not begin this winter. [1]
The committee invited supporters to a meeting at the Community Hall on Saturday, January 14, from 2 to 4 p.m., to discuss ways to close the gap. It said donations, yearly subscriptions and long-term loans were among the options it hoped to consider. [1]
