The Denman Island Advisory Planning Commission recommended that the Local Trust Committee move forward with proposed Bylaws 228 and 229, part of the Farming Regulations Review Project referred to the commission for comment.[1]
The commission also recommended that the Local Trust Committee review the creation of development permit areas to protect watercourses as a priority.[1]
During discussion of Bylaw 229, members raised concerns about manure and livestock contamination of water; Island Planner Marlis McCargar said a provincial code of practice enacted in 2019 sets requirements for farm practices involving livestock, manure and storage near watercourses.[1]
The draft minutes say the meeting was held on January 17, 2023, and adjourned at 2:39 pm.[1]
