Islands Trust Council approved a 2023/24 budget of $9.7 million that includes a Denman Island Housing Review Project among its selected projects.[1]
The budget assumes existing service levels will continue and includes support for new governance and accessibility committees, according to the council’s announcement.[1]
At a February 7 Denman Local Trust Committee meeting, presenters described housing needs and barriers on the island and suggested changes to planning rules and approval processes.[2]
The minutes say trustees noted that a housing review of the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw was ongoing, and that relevant material could be sent to Islands Trust planners.[2]
