The Local Trust Committee removes most bylaws from one penalty schedule while deferring a decision on another schedule.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee removed all bylaws except the Short Term Vacation Rental Bylaw from Schedule A of its Bylaw Enforcement Notification Bylaw, and deferred consideration of Schedule B to its next meeting.[1]
Bylaw Compliance and Enforcement Manager Warren Dingman said the proposed amendment was intended to enforce the Siting and Use Bylaw, correct errors and add a contravention for failing to permit an inspection under section 1.3.7 of the Land Use Bylaw.[1]
Trustees discussed concerns that fines could disproportionately affect low-income residents. The motion to remove the bylaws from Schedule A, except the Short Term Vacation Rental Bylaw, carried after the closed meeting.[1]
The committee also received a report on the Denman Housing Review recommendations. A Community Information Meeting on housing was requested for sometime in May, with a trustee asking that it be held in the evening.[1]
The committee closed all existing unlawful housing files on Denman Island in a closed meeting and closed the Siting file for 4696 Lacon Road, Chair David Maude reported after the meeting returned to public session.[1]
