CityWest said its Denman fibre-optic project now covers roughly 875 properties, after the company expanded the original scope following community consultation. The March 30 update said the expanded project represents 93% of island residents.[1]
The company said shipping delays, higher labour and materials costs, difficult terrain and weather had challenged construction. It said crews would bring fibre to the edge of eligible properties, with a free connection to eligible homes and businesses up to 80 metres for customers who sign up.[1]
CityWest said work in northern Denman had been delayed because the route requires passage through park land and additional permitting. The update said the company could not provide a construction or service-activation timeline for the 68 properties in that area.[1]
The company said it expected its first Denman customers to be online this spring.[1]
