The Denman Island Community Education Society says it has secured full funding for a covered recreation space near the community hall, after the Comox Valley Regional District allocated $40,000 in tax revenue and an additional $18,000 in grant expenditure to close a funding shortfall.[1]
The society said rising labour and material costs had left the project short of funds despite more than $275,000 in funding secured by the end of 2022.[1]
The project is expected to provide covered outdoor space for recreation and community gatherings. The society said work is expected to get underway in late spring.[1]
