Denman residents brought housing concerns to the Local Trust Committee’s April 4 meeting, including difficulty finding affordable housing and worries about security in current housing situations, according to the minutes. [1]

The Denman Island Housing Action Group asked the committee to refer proposed amendments to the Bylaw Enforcement Notification bylaw to the Housing Advisory Planning Commission. A public speaker objected to enforcement powers and additional fines. [1]

The minutes record a trustee’s response that the housing review was an opportunity to update the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw in conversation with the community. [1]

The Housing Action Group delegation said eight studies since 2002 had addressed housing needs and expressed concern about starting another review while housing conditions continued to decline. [1]
