The Denman Island Local Trust Committee appointed seven members to its Housing Advisory Planning Commission at a special meeting on April 25, with terms ending April 25, 2025.[1]
The committee discussed requirements for a Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation grant application, including a housing action plan, commission review, business case and community consultation. The minutes record concern about the short timeline and say the expedited process was not supported because of the need for adequate consultation and careful consideration at a pace that works for the community.[1]
The committee said its Housing Review Project would examine bylaws and housing options, and that completing the review would position the committee and community to participate in future grant opportunities. It asked staff to provide the commission with the Official Community Plan, Land Use Bylaw and Housing Review.[1]
The minutes also record a proposal to replace hard copies of the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw in the Denman Island library, which were no longer available there. The committee asked staff to provide hard copies to the local trustees.[1]
