CityWest fibre network is not yet ready to serve Denman

CityWest’s fibre network on Denman is not yet ready to serve customers: the island network is connected to the Connected Coast trunk line, but the trunk line is not yet energised, a Denman Island Residents Association internet committee article in the Aug. 3 Grapevine says.^[1]

The article says a distribution network is installed along most Denman roads, with driveway-side connection points, and that drops and home connections are complete at many homes.^[1]

It says the contractor’s work on Denman ended in July, after encountering physical obstacles, accommodation and labour difficulties, and equipment problems.^[1]

The article reports that CityWest says the installation exceeded its schedule and budget, and that the company is developing an application to the province while working to finish service across the island.^[1]
