Housing was a prominent subject at the Denman Island Local Trust Committee’s July 25 meeting, where public comments included concerns about insecure housing, a lack of accommodation for workers and barriers to affordable housing.[1]

The minutes record residents’ comments that housing insecurity was affecting children and families, and that housing was needed for young adults returning to the community and older parents needing family assistance.[1]

Residents also questioned the Density Bank and called for changes to housing rules. The minutes say a trustee acknowledged a desire to help with the housing problem and pointed to the Housing Advisory Planning Commission’s work on the Housing Review project.[1]
