Denman Island trustees voted on October 3 to ask staff to write a letter urging officials to seriously examine a ferry from Vancouver Island to Hornby Island rather than a route across Denman. [1]

The motion followed a presentation by Graham Brazier on behalf of Friends of Denman Forests about through traffic and the island’s Official Community Plan. The minutes say trustees supported the initiative and noted the existing speed limit on the main road used by through traffic as an additional concern. [1]

The committee also asked staff to schedule a joint meeting with the Hornby and Denman local trust committees about ferry transport. [1]

Public comments at the meeting raised speeding and congestion, safety for people walking and cycling, and concerns about traffic near the Denman West terminal. Those comments are recorded in the minutes as residents’ statements, not as findings by the committee. [1]
