Denman’s Local Trust Committee voted on October 3 to ask staff to prepare a letter to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, BC Ferries’ chief executive, the regional district director and the MLA, urging them to examine a ferry from Vancouver Island to Hornby rather than across Denman. [1]

The request followed a presentation by Graham Brazier on behalf of Friends of Denman Forests about through traffic from the ferry crossing. The minutes say trustees supported the initiative and noted concerns about the speed limit on the main road used by that traffic. [1]

Public comments at the meeting described speeding, congestion and safety concerns for people walking or cycling, and asked the committee to advocate for solutions. The minutes record the committee’s request for a letter; they do not record that the letter had been sent. [1]
