Denman’s Local Trust Committee asked staff to prepare a letter urging officials to seriously examine a ferry from Vancouver Island to Hornby Island, rather than a route across Denman.[1]
The request followed a presentation by Graham Brazier on behalf of Friends of Denman Forests about through traffic and the island’s Official Community Plan. Trustees supported the initiative and noted concern about the speed limit on the main road used by cross-island ferry traffic.[1]
The committee also asked staff to schedule a joint meeting with the Hornby and Denman local trust committees about ferry transport.[1]
Public comments at the meeting raised concerns about congestion and safety on Denman’s ferry-traffic roads, and asked the committee to advocate for solutions.[1]
