Denman Island’s Local Trust Committee voted in October to ask staff to write to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, BC Ferries’ chief executive, the regional district director and the MLA about examining a ferry from Vancouver Island to Hornby Island rather than across Denman.[1]
The October minutes also record a request to schedule a joint meeting of the Denman and Hornby local trust committees about ferry transport.[1]
The minutes say public comments raised concerns about cross-island ferry traffic, including congestion and safety for people walking or cycling, and asked the committee to advocate for solutions.[1]
