A free wood-debris pickup is scheduled on Denman Island for six consecutive days beginning Monday, Nov. 27, according to a notice in this week’s Grapevine. [1]
The notice says chipped wood will remain on Denman and go to Two Roads Farm to be made into compost. It describes the program as an effort to remove debris that could spread wildfire to homes and other structures and to reduce smoke pollution from burning. [1]
Residents are asked to place eligible bundles by the road by the morning of Nov. 27. The notice excludes treated lumber, leaf piles, grass clippings and invasive species, and says tree trimmings must be under six inches in diameter and under 10 feet long. [1]
Denman Island Fire Rescue endorses the program, the notice says, and directs questions to denmanfire@outlook.com. [1]
