Public comments recorded in the October 3 Local Trust Committee minutes raised concerns about cross-island ferry traffic on Denman, including speeding, congestion and safety for people walking or biking on ferry traffic roads.[1]

The minutes record a request for the committee to advocate for solutions. They also record concerns about traffic at the Denman West terminal and a request for flaggers in the village, where congestion could interfere with emergency responders.[1]

The committee requested that staff write a letter asking officials to “seriously examine the option of supplying a ferry to Hornby Island from Vancouver Island and not across Denman Island.”[1]
