Work on the Cross Island Trail is proceeding, with an extension into Denman’s downtown area anticipated in the coming year, according to an update to the Denman Local Trust Committee on February 13.[1]

A community member asked about continuing the trail up the steep hill from the ferry terminal, describing it as dangerous for pedestrians and cyclists. Comox Valley Regional District Electoral Area Director Daniel Arbour said the section’s scope and cost had been researched and were beyond the ability of the regional district or residents to implement.[1]

The minutes say it was hoped the Province could include funding for that section in its capital projects budget. They also record that feedback was being sought on the Regional Parks and Trails Strategic Plan, which includes Denman and Hornby Islands.[1]
