Denman trustees reviewed staff options for the island’s housing project at a special meeting on February 20, with a future in-person meeting planned to hear from the public.[1]

The discussion covered possible changes to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw, including allowing more types of accessory dwelling units in zones where housing is permitted. Trustees supported that option with a requirement for appropriate water or waste-disposal service.[1]

The minutes record support for removing the temporary-use-permit requirement for accessory dwelling units and eliminating the density bank. Trustees also discussed limiting vacation rentals to home-based guest accommodation in a primary dwelling, but said they would consider that after receiving a bylaw-compliance report.[1]

The meeting was described as primarily an information-gathering session for trustees. The minutes say public input would be available at a future in-person meeting on Denman.[1]
