A community information meeting on February 13 reviewed proposed bylaws concerning farming on Denman Island, including changes to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw.[1]
The proposed Official Community Plan changes would designate lands in the Agricultural Land Reserve as Agriculture and add policies supporting agriculture uses consistent with Agricultural Land Commission regulations.[1]
Proposed Land Use Bylaw changes covered dwellings in the reserve, agri-tourism use and accommodation, agricultural definitions and setbacks for associated farm buildings.[1]
The minutes say the meeting was intended to provide information before a public hearing. They also record that the Local Trust Committee would consider minor corrections after the hearing.[1]
