The Denman Island Local Trust Committee discussed groundwater and water information at its April 9 meeting, after Senior Freshwater Specialist William Shulba presented a memorandum on the Freshwater Sustainability Strategy.[1]
The minutes say there are no Freshwater Sustainability Strategy projects specifically planned for Denman Island. They record that a tailor-made water-balance assessment could be a next step, could include community consultation and could be funded before the current Local Trust Committee term concludes.[1]
The Islands Trust Area Water Balance project is scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2024/25, with Gabriola Island as its case study.[1]
