The Denman Local Trust Committee heard April 9 that the Islands Trust has no Freshwater Sustainability Strategy projects planned specifically for the island, according to the meeting minutes.[1]
Senior Freshwater Specialist William Shulba presented an update on the strategy and related work, including groundwater conditions and water allocation studies and a groundwater recharge mapping project.[1]
The minutes say an Islands Trust Area Water Balance project is scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2024/25, using Gabriola Island as its case study.[1]
Shulba told trustees that a tailor-made water balance assessment for Denman could include community consultation, and that maps from earlier projects on the island could be requested.[1]
