Denman Community School students took part in two days of writing workshops led by children’s-book writer Sara Cassidy last month, as an auxiliary event for the Readers and Writers Festival.[1]
The workshops explored character and dialogue, with exercises adapted for different age groups, according to Cassidy’s account published in the Grapevine.[1]
Students also wrote poems from the perspective of everyday objects, and worked together to create a story using two characters.[1]
Cassidy and school staff are eager for a third set of workshops next year, the article says.[1]
