A Denman Island writer described pressing apples from an orchard, a friend’s orchard and a tree on a road allowance using an apple press borrowed from the Growers and Producers Association. [1]
The account says the press was bolted to a deck, and the resulting apple pomace was used as livestock feed or shared with farming friends. [1]
The writer said household membership in the association costs $20 and that members can use its equipment for free. The issue also lists a seed-cleaning demonstration at the Old School for Saturday, October 12. [1]
