A resident raised concern about a proposed rule for secondary dwellings during the Denman Island Local Trust Committee’s December meeting, saying it could leave only one of three homes in an R2 zone eligible for a secondary dwelling.[1]

The resident said they preferred allowing one secondary dwelling per primary dwelling rather than per lot, the minutes record.[1]

The planner said the proposal aimed to permit secondary dwelling units on a per-lot basis and that limiting them to one per lot would keep density manageable and avoid a risk of overdevelopment on larger lots.[1]
