A Taylor’s checkerspot butterfly recovery project update in the January 9 Grapevine describes habitat enhancement work at Helliwell Provincial Park, including weeding, selective limbing or removal of conifers, and replanting and seeding with native species.[1]

The article says the work has been ongoing for several years and identifies habitat loss, degradation and fragmentation as major factors in the species’ decline.[1]
