Residents raised affordable housing and second residences during the Denman Island Local Trust Committee meeting on January 21. One speaker said residents were living in substandard conditions and urged action on affordable housing.[1]

Another speaker asked whether a second residence on a property would be required to be affordable. Trustees replied that affordability could be addressed through a housing agreement, but said resources to administer a high number of agreements were not in place.[1]

Trustees confirmed that a property with a second residence could not be subdivided and that short-term vacation rentals were not allowed.[1]
