Residents raised concerns about affordable housing and substandard living conditions at the Denman Island Local Trust Committee’s Jan. 21 meeting, according to the adopted minutes.[1]

One member of the public asked whether a second residence on a property would be required to be affordable. Trustees replied that affordability could be addressed through a housing agreement, but said resources to administer a high number of agreements were not in place.[1]

The trustees also confirmed that a property with a second residence could not be subdivided and that short-term vacation rentals were not allowed, the minutes say.[1]
