Denman residents questioned proposed housing-related bylaw changes at a community information meeting on March 18, where about 43 members of the public attended.[1]

The proposals would remove the density bank from the Official Community Plan and allow secondary dwellings in rural residential, forestry and resource zones without a Temporary Use Permit, according to the planner’s presentation recorded in the minutes.[1]

The minutes say there were seven densities in the bank, while the number shown in the Official Community Plan was incorrect. The planner said a build-out analysis had been completed, but information about existing covenants and specific restrictions still needed to be checked before it could be finalized and presented to the public.[1]

A letter from K’ómoks First Nation requested that the Local Trust Committee defer consideration of advancing the bylaws until July 2025 to allow more time for an environmental review, the minutes record. The meeting discussed the request and the public-hearing process; the minutes do not record a decision on that request.[1]
