The Denman Island Local Trust Committee endorses an integrated process for its Housing Review Project, combining the project’s work rather than separating it into two processes. [1] Staff are to bring an Engagement Plan to a subsequent committee meeting. [1]
The committee endorses the revised Project Charter, Option 2, dated May 8, 2025. [1] It also integrates official community plan technical amendments and a First Nations acknowledgement update into the Housing Review Project and requests an updated project charter reflecting that integration. [1]
The committee requests that staff schedule a special meeting with the Hornby Island Local Trust Committee in the summer or fall of 2025 to discuss potential mutually supportive housing solutions for both islands and review draft K’ómoks First Nation engagement summary recommendations. [1]
Staff present two draft maps for future public discussion: a subdivision potential map estimating new residential lots possible under current zoning, and a dwelling unit potential map estimating new dwellings, including secondary suites and additional dwelling units. [1]
Trustees discuss future engagement options including an evening online presentation, paper and online comment forms, an evening or weekend in-person component, displays at the Saturday Market and Community Hall, and maps and comment boards in a central location.
