Denman housing review moves into next phase

Trustees endorsed a revised project charter and discussed options for public engagement on the island’s housing review.

The Denman Island Local Trust Committee endorsed a revised project charter for the Denman Housing Review Project at a special meeting on May 8, according to the meeting minutes.^[1]

The committee also asked staff to integrate Official Community Plan technical amendments and an updated First Nations acknowledgement into the project charter, and to arrange a special meeting with the Hornby Island Local Trust Committee in summer or fall 2025 to discuss potential housing solutions for both islands.^[1]

The minutes list possible future engagement formats, including an evening online presentation, paper and online comment forms, and an in-person session at the Community Hall. They also record that $5000.00 and four staff travel days were available for the next round of engagement between then and September 2025.^[1]
