Denman Island trustees endorsed a revised charter for the Housing Review Project at a special meeting on May 8, according to the minutes. [1]
The minutes say the project includes reformatting the Land Use Bylaw and ongoing relationship-building with K’ómoks First Nation. Trustees also asked staff to integrate technical amendments to the Official Community Plan and an update to its First Nations acknowledgement into the project. [1]
Trustees requested a special meeting with the Hornby Island Local Trust Committee in summer or fall 2025 to discuss possible housing solutions for both islands and review recommendations from a K’ómoks First Nation engagement summary. [1]
For the next round of public engagement, trustees expressed interest in an evening online presentation, written and online comment forms, and an evening or weekend in-person session. The minutes say $5000.00 and 4 staff travel days were available for engagement between then and September 2025. [1]
