A community feast is scheduled for Aug. 24 at 6 p.m. at Denman Island’s Community Hall, as part of a University of Victoria field school taking place on the island in August.^[1]

The field school’s 17 students are expected to camp for two weeks and discuss mutual aid, subsistence and collective decision-making, according to the event notice.^[1]

Farm to Family is partnering on the feast and will help cook and source local food. Donations will be split between Farm to Family and an organization chosen by the students; the notice says no one will be turned away for lack of funds.^[1]

Organizers are seeking volunteers to serve food and help with cleanup, and ask attendees to bring their own plates, bowls, cups and cutlery.^[1]
