A member of the public told the Denman Island Local Trust Committee in July that pre-zoning land before an Official Community Plan update could limit public input and disrupt planning.[1]
The comments concerned a proposal for 10 affordable dwelling units at 5400 Northwest Road. The meeting minutes record the public speaker’s concerns about the proposal’s scale, density and possible effects on cluster housing, as well as questions about how proposed limits on house size were determined.[1]
The minutes also record the Snag Housing Co-op delegation’s description of its proposal: 10 units in two clusters, a four-site campground, a community garden and common areas. The delegation said the project would operate as a not-for-profit and that traffic and tourism concerns would be taken into account.[1]
The committee requested staff schedule a community engagement session about the housing project in September or October 2025.[1]
