Denman housing proposals draw separate presentations to trustees

Two delegations presented affordable-housing proposals to the Denman Island Local Trust Committee on Dec. 16. One described a proposal to rezone a 15-acre property for eight dwelling units regulated by a housing agreement held with the Islands Trust.^[1]

The Denman Community Housing Society presented a proposal concerning the Emcon works yard, which is leased to Mainroad until 2033. The delegation said an Official Community Plan amendment could set aside a location for affordable housing in the future, and that Emcon’s offer could allow the community to secure a parcel for that purpose.^[1]

The minutes record the presentations but do not record a decision on either proposal at that meeting.^[1]
