Denman Island trustees expressed a preference for subdivision rules that would require private subdivisions to include community benefit, while allowing community-benefit subdivisions without rezoning. Draft policies and regulations for the preferred option are to be sent for legal review. [1]

The planner said community benefit included land for conservation, affordable housing and First Nations, and that minimum parcel sizes could be waived for community-benefit parcels. [1]

The Local Trust Committee also requested staff consult with K'ómoks First Nation about whether proposed archaeological requirements should apply to all rezoning applications involving increased density or intensity of use, or only to areas of known or potential archaeological significance. [1]

Trustees adopted an amended bylaw compliance and enforcement policy that permits unlawful short-term rentals to continue operating for 45 days after being ticketed, rather than the previously allowed 90-day compliance period. The policy also provides for the Regional Planning Manager to act as a screening officer for disputed bylaw notices. [1]

The committee scheduled a special meeting for April 17, 2026, at 10:00 am on Denman Island. Its next regular meeting is scheduled for May 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Denman Activity Centre. [1]
