The Denman Local Trust Committee gave third readings on February 17 to proposed bylaws for the Triple Rock Land Cooperative, including a bylaw to add four residential units and permit secondary suites in all units.[1]
The proposed housing agreement secures 19 cooperative housing units as affordable and specifies occupancy, according to the meeting minutes.[1]
At the public hearing, Sean Maher said the cost of building a unit created a high barrier to co-op housing and asked whether financing was available. The applicant said financing had been discussed but nothing was in place.[1]
The minutes record support for the application as well as concerns about secondary suites. They also say suites could be rented to co-op members, family members, caregivers, people applying for membership and people actively involved in the co-op, but not used for short-term rentals.[1]
