Denman Island Local Trust Committee minutes record public questions about affordable housing proposals, a proposed winery and foreign-buyer legislation at the committee’s March 17 meeting.[1]
On the winery, the planner said the applicant had applied for a retroactive development permit and had not applied for a development variance permit; the minutes say the Board of Variance call for expressions of interest was unrelated to the application.[1]
The minutes also record a public comment that affordable housing proposals in dense areas could create septic and traffic concerns, and a trustee’s response that clustering housing near amenities can reduce vehicle use.[1]
