The Denman Island Local Trust Committee asked staff to incorporate changes to draft housing bylaws after considering them at its May 12 meeting. The proposals amend the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw.[1]
The committee discussed strata subdivision, secondary suites, dwelling floor-area limits and setbacks from the sea. It agreed to use a standard template for a covenant intended to prevent a secondary suite from being subdivided from a principal dwelling.[1]
A member of the public spoke about the affordable-housing emergency and urged trustees to move forward with the draft amendments, according to the minutes.[1]
The minutes record the committee’s request for staff to make housekeeping, grammatical and formatting changes to the draft bylaws; they do not record a final adoption of the proposals.[1]
