The Islands Trust Conservancy Board asked staff to prepare a 2027–28 budget request for its July 28 meeting, with proposed increases for protected-area management, land securement, conservation planning and communications, among other items.[1]
The request is preliminary: the board’s motion directs staff to prepare a budget, rather than approving the proposed increases. The meeting recording includes the chair’s clarification that the motion did not approve any increases.[1][2]
During the budget discussion, staff described a proposed regional conservation plan update, including a project manager and a data-gap analysis in 2027–28. The minutes record that the board’s motion includes increased costs for the Regional Conservation Plan update.[2][1]
The board also approved the Conservancy’s audited financial statements for the 2025/26 fiscal year and referred them to Islands Trust Council for information.[1]
