Several members of the public spoke in support of the 3Ravens Land Share Non-Profit Affordable Housing Cooperative housing application at the June 23 Denman Local Trust Committee meeting, according to draft minutes.[1]

Speakers described an unstable rental market, housing insecurity and the lack of options outside privately owned single-family homes. One speaker said cooperative housing could benefit residents and the broader community; an immediate neighbour of the property also spoke in support.[1]

The minutes also record differing views on the application’s water management plan and ecological covenant. One speaker said a water management plan was unnecessary because each household was responsible for its own rainwater collection and use, and suggested the covenant’s objectives could be achieved by other means.[1]

At a May 12 meeting, the committee considered first reading of proposed amendments to the Official Community Plan and Land Use Bylaw as part of its Denman Housing review project. The minutes record discussion of changes to the draft bylaws, but do not record a decision on the 3Ravens application.[2]
