The draft Denman Island Official Community Plan and land-use bylaws propose reducing total permitted density by 100 dwelling units, while allowing more housing types and rezoning for multi-unit housing. [1]
The density cap and density bank are to be replaced by policy supporting more affordable secondary suites and permitting rezoning for multi-unit housing. Subdivision through rezoning may be supported where it provides a community benefit. [1]
The proposed changes include alternative dwellings, home-based assisted living, tiny home villages, housing with shared facilities, seniors housing and multi-unit housing. They also permit a reduction of minimum parcel size for non-profit housing. [1]
