A new community food-preservation initiative on Denman Island has held its first session, processing zucchini into relish and making different flavours of sauerkraut. Participants took home a small jar, while the rest was set aside for Farm to Family meal programs, according to the project notice by Erika Bland.[1]
The notice describes the Farm to Jar Club as a collective effort focused on seasonal food preservation, practical skills-sharing and food security. It says the project is intended to connect growers, foragers, cooks and other community members, with activities including canning, fermenting, drying and freezing.[1]
The next session is scheduled for Wednesday, September 2, at 2:30 p.m. in the Community Hall kitchen. The notice says participants plan to process apples and blackberries into applesauce and pie filling.[1]

Our first Farm to Jar session was a huge success. We processed around 10 kilos of zucchini into zucchini relish, and made different flavours of sauerkraut.
