A public hearing on proposed Bylaws 260 and 264 is scheduled for 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15, at the Denman Activity Centre, following a 10:30 a.m. community information meeting.[1]

The notice says the proposed Official Community Plan changes include housing policies, support for alternative housing forms and affordable housing, and a broader framework to replace the density bank policy.[1]

Proposed Land Use Bylaw changes include increasing minimum lot sizes, reducing the number of permitted dwellings on larger lots, expanding opportunities for secondary suites in certain zones, and requiring freshwater catchment and storage cisterns for new builds.[1]

At the Local Trust Committee’s August 24 meeting, one member of the public asked that second reading be delayed until after the hearing, expressing concern about awareness of the proposed changes and the density bank’s removal. The planner said comments could be submitted until the hearing closed and changes could still be made after second reading.[2]
