A community event featuring Leocadio Juracán is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1, at 3:30 p.m. in the Back Hall on Denman Island, according to a notice in this week’s Grapevine.[1]

The notice says Juracán, a Mayan farmer and organizer with Guatemala’s Campesino Committee of the Highlands, will speak about land defence and the experiences of Indigenous and campesino communities.[1]

The event is organized by the Denman Coffee Buyers Club, and the notice says Soup Night at the Gathering Place is scheduled for 5 to 7 p.m. afterward.[1]
