Chrome Island Lighthouse History and Archaeological Site

Chrome Island Lighthouse, originally known as Yellow Rock Lighthouse, was built in 1890 and first lit in 1891. It underwent several upgrades including a foghorn and a second tower. The original tower was replaced in 1989. The island is now a protected archaeological site following a 2000 study.
